My Hercules Tool #1

Stacks Image 8151
Stacks Image 8146

A Hercules tool.

the purpose of which follows…

As my friend Helmut "Speedy" Clasen has warned, this axle nut design has the threads in the wrong direction. Such that when driving forward the natural force of rotation of the axle tends to unscrew the nut. It never happened to me when I owned my original Hercules but Speedy warns that on an older machine, if the axle has the smallest bend (likely) it will make trouble. So. This part keeps the nut from unscrewing if it tries, and does double duty as the axle removal tool. It could use a redesign to have a compound bend to make mounting easier but that is for the future.
